North Penn says kindergarten Chromebooks will stay at school; Parent Portal gets 12-language translation

District technology staff updated families on ParentSquare/Infinite Campus enhancements, bus-notification tools and a Chromebook policy change: kindergarten through grade 2 devices will remain at school beginning in 2026–27 and K–2 families will not be charged a technology fee.
Mike Bodai, the district's educational technology coordinator, walked families through the updated technology resources and communication tools available on the district tech page, including ParentSquare for communications, SchoolCafe for meal accounts and a bus-tracking app for route notifications. He said the Parent Portal will display translated content in 12 languages and that transportation details will be visible beginning Aug. 17.
Bodai announced a policy change "hot off the press": "Chromebooks will remain at school, and they will not be sent home. Each student will still be assigned their own Chromebook, to use for daily classroom learning." He said the change aligns with recommendations from elementary leaders and a district digital-wellness initiative and noted the district will not charge a technology fee for kindergarten through grade 2 as a result.
