Town Manager Paula told the council that the town's electronic sign was hit by a Maine DOT plow truck while the truck was turning in the parking lot; Paula said the town has already been in discussions with DOT and that DOT will cover repairs. "The truck was turning around in our parking lot and took out the sign. We have already been in discussions with DOT, and they will be paying for the repairs of that when the time comes," Paula reported.
Paula also said she participated as a panelist at a civics discussion at Hampden Academy as part of a statewide initiative marking the nation's 250th anniversary, and she announced a Municipal Waste Hub scholarship (up to $10,000) available to high school seniors and first-year post-secondary students who live in member communities, with applications at town offices and local partners. She praised library staff for sustaining curbside service during construction.
