Hampden staff outline community events calendar and purchase of flags for July semicentennial

During the planning update, Amy Bridal Johnson described upcoming community events and outreach plans. She said the Children’s Day committee will meet March 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Rock Church, the community expo and kids carnival is set for March 21 at Hampden Academy, and the annual spring stream cleanup is planned for May 2 with a rain date of May 16.
Johnson also said the town received a grant to buy 48 American flags and poles to help decorate the community for the nation’s semicentennial in July and is coordinating with the historical society and Children's Day committee on related activities. Staff said they plan a new newsletter and other communications to inform residents about available programming.
