Director Amy Bridal Johnson reports new businesses, housing approvals and grant awards

Director Amy Bridal Johnson told the Hampden Planning and Community & Economic Development Committee on March 9 that the town has seen steady development over the past year, with seven home-occupation licenses issued, 10 incoming businesses, six commercial spaces becoming available, 21 approved multifamily dwelling units and seven buildable lots. “So a lot of a lot of good development happening in town, especially commercially,” she said.
Johnson also updated the committee on grant activity tied to infrastructure and sewer projects: staff completed the CDS FY ’23 grant application and noted an FY26 award of $1,735,000 for Main Road North sewer projects, while a FY27 CDS application is due March 25. The director said the town hopes these awards will support planned capital work and reduce borrowing costs for future projects.
