Douglass Township approves County Line Road bridge bid documents, schedules July advertisement and bid opening

Douglass Township's Board of Supervisors approved bid documents for the County Line Road bridge replacement at a special meeting July 6, 2026. Township Engineer Khal Hassan presented the bid package and the board voted 3–0 to proceed with advertising the project.
Hassan told the board the advertising cycle will start July 10, with a scheduled bid opening on July 29. Resident Roger Updegrove asked why bat-habitat testing was required when a PA Natural Diversity Inventory (PNDI) had previously been secured; Hassan confirmed the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has updated its requirements since the last PNDI was obtained, making the additional testing necessary for the project to move forward.
Chairman Joshua Stouch made the motion to approve the bid documents; Vice Chair Don Bergstresser seconded and the vote passed unanimously 3–0. The board did not set additional timetable details at the meeting. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for July 20, 2026.
