Police report: 797 calls in May; new hire sworn in and detective reassignment made

Cpl. Mark Dykie presented the Police Department's monthly report for May and highlighted staffing and equipment updates. The department responded to 797 calls for service in May, with five reportable accidents, seven non-reportable accidents, 69 traffic citations, nine criminal investigations and four criminal arrests. Officer Liam Chambers was recently sworn in and will begin field training; Officer Choiniere completed his field training and remains a one-year probationary officer. Detective/Corporal Castellucci's resignation to accept a position with the Montgomery County Detectives was accepted by the Board and Officer Delaney — who had assisted Castellucci for about a year — was assigned to the detective position.
Dykie reported two new vehicles procured with grant funds: a Dodge Durango (delivered and lettered) and a Chevrolet Tahoe (awaiting delivery and upfitting). The department requested the Board consider creating a Lieutenant position to provide additional leadership; Chief Evans will present details at a future meeting for further consideration.
