Town staff: two access points planned, church parking confined to 4.67-acre parcel

Town project manager Cenos Morris (introduced during the staff presentation) told the commission that the relocation plan for Saint James Baptist Church will include two access points and that the church's parking will remain on the parcel allotted to the church, not consuming existing public parking used by Mid Island Park visitors.
"There are going to be two access points into the church. One of them will be directly onto church property. The second access will be a town road that will connect to the church further up within the site," Morris said in response to commissioners' questions about how public access to the remainder of the park would be affected. He stated that all of the church parking is within the 4.67-acre parcel and therefore "will not be impacting any other parking that is currently" used by the public along Unity/Union Cemetery Road.
Morris and staff explained the site plan will reconfigure existing access locations to keep a town-maintained road for park access and to provide a separate, dedicated entry to the church facility. Commissioners confirmed understanding and had no further questions before the public hearing was closed.
