Town flags KONE elevator price rises and limited service options under proprietary controls
Summary
Town staff said KONE will raise elevator-service rates 4% on Aug. 1 after a prior 26% increase, and noted proprietary control boards limit outside repair options; the board reviewed current contract status and annual cost considerations (amounts not fully specified).

Town staff told the board the elevator vendor KONE notified the town that service rates will increase by 4% effective Aug. 1. "We just got a letter June 30 from KONE... as of August 1, they're going up for another 4%," S2 said, adding the town had downgraded its contract last year after a roughly 26% increase.
Staff warned that the elevator system is proprietary and outside vendors cannot perform some repairs because control boards and parts remain KONE-specific. Board members requested the contract for review and discussed weighing service levels against cost; no contract changes were approved at this meeting.
