Space-frame delay small but fix reduces scope: board hears construction updates

Engineers reported that rather than replacing the entire column system, 12 columns show weak points and can be strengthened by welding reinforcement plates to the columns. The presenter said that approach “was all the fix that I needed,” and that it is a simpler, faster remedy than an all-new structure. The elementary addition was reported as occupiable after punch-list work and receipt of a certificate of occupancy, with only minor interior finishes remaining.
Board members asked staff to track submittal milestones and to return with an updated schedule and cost impact if the DSI timeline shifts further. No formal vote was required; members reiterated the importance of safety and timely communication with contractors.
