Resident Bill Newton told the council about a dangerous tree fall on Wellness Road on June 29 that severed power and data lines and blocked the roadway.
"The power was not restored until Tuesday at 03:45AM," Newton said, and told the council he had met with a utility arborist, Justin Hutchinson of Arbor Metrics, who said he would draft a report to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Newton told the board NIPSCO had said about "720 customers that are out," a figure he relayed from the utility’s initial report.
Council members asked for the arborist’s contact information so staff can follow up with utilities and landowners. Staff said it would pursue notification and potential remedies with the landowner and the utility where appropriate.
