City Administrator LeaAnn Myers presented the proposed 2026 Municipal and Recreation Commission budgets and announced the scheduled Revenue Neutral Rate and budget hearings: the Recreation Commission hearing on August 26, 2025 at 5:30 PM and the City hearing on August 28, 2025 at 7:00 PM.
Myers also reported the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) sent a letter accepting the City of Altamont to apply for a State Revolving Fund (SRF) loan for sewer improvements, work that follows the findings of a sewer study completed by Midwest Engineering. Myers said Midwest Engineering connected the city with Austin Masters from the Midwest Assistance Program, who is expected to attend the next council meeting to explain the SRF application process.
Myers recommended the council be ready to move forward with the application; no formal SRF vote occurred at this meeting. Publication of hearing notices was submitted to Labette Avenue as required for the upcoming budget hearings.
