Council approves $8,920 reimbursement to Schwab Eaton for TA sidewalk work

The Altamont City Council on July 24 approved payment of $8,920.00 to Schwab Eaton to reimburse expenses for work on the TA Sidewalk project completed before the Kansas Department of Transportation issued a Notice to Proceed.
Karla Walters and Chuck May of Schwab Eaton were present to answer council questions about the early work. City Administrator LeaAnn Myers recommended the reimbursement be paid from the Capital Improvement Fund. Councilmember Lyle Sykes moved to approve the payment and Tyler Julich seconded; the motion carried.
Councilmembers asked Schwab Eaton to ensure the remainder of the project will be covered by grant funds and were told the firm will not render additional work until receiving the Notice to Proceed. There were no amendments or conditions attached to the reimbursement motion.
