Dyllon Stafford, speaking on behalf of the Altamont Recreation Commission, requested a street closure for the Chili Cook Off Fundraiser and the 12th Annual Boo Bash scheduled for Oct. 18. Police Chief Shields recommended that the closure include the alley on 5th to Huston and the corridor from City Hall to just south of the Police Department; Councilmember Kyle Wiford moved to approve the recommendation and Councilmember Tyler Julich seconded. The motion carried.
The events include an earlier 4:30 PM chili competition at the fire department (Guns & Hoses Chili Cook Off) and the Boo Bash downtown starting at 5:00 PM. Staff and police recommended the closure area to ensure public-safety access and event staging; the council adopted the recommendation during the information/requests portion of the agenda.
