Chief Michael Shields presented the police report, listing warnings and citations across several categories (speed warnings and citations, stop-sign citations and others), two KBI reports for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, a juvenile court referral for possession of a marijuana vape pen, assistance to Labette County deputies on a fight call, and that Officer Jade Carlson will graduate from the police academy this week. The department also placed a new patrol vehicle into service and noted a kids fishing derby that drew 141 participants.
The fire department recorded a meeting, three medical calls, three structure fires and one outside fire. Utility staff reported a range of maintenance actions: concrete patching at the pool, lift-station repairs, removal of rotten sheeting from city hall, storm-damage restoration, replacement of electric fuses, lead and copper monitoring at 10 sample sites, and a scheduled appointment with American Leak Detection to locate a pool leak.
