Council hears safety concerns about e-bikes and e-scooters; draft ordinance to be discussed in workshop

Councilman Berg told the council several residents had raised concerns about e-bikes and e-scooters and recounted a near-miss on the Greenbelt near Harrison School to underscore safety issues. "On my way here tonight, going around East Teton, one shot out of the Greenbelt area and across the road going up toward Harrison School. If I'd been going two miles an hour faster, I wouldn't have seen them in time," he said.
The mayor reported that the county's prosecuting attorney has submitted a draft ordinance and that the council will consider the item in an upcoming workshop. Staff indicated the city has a draft (based partly on Torrington's approach) and that goal-setting sessions and workshops would take up related policy items as budget timing allows.
