Students asked how to find employment, internships and volunteer opportunities. Councilmember Natalie F. Gonzales and others suggested beginning with school counselors, then using county resources such as WorkSource Montgomery (which offers resume help and a mobile van), recreation and park agencies, Teamworks/TeenWorks programs and council internship openings.
"They actually even have a mobile van, they have offices in Wheaton and in other places and it's a great space to go," Councilmember Natalie F. Gonzales said of WorkSource Montgomery, which helps applicants build resumes and profiles. Councilmembers also encouraged students to check council newsletters and social media for internship postings and recommended parents sponsor peers for field trips or other funded opportunities when possible.
