County leaders urge clear state definition of 'farm' to avoid zoning conflicts

Martin Prew noted the distinction between state statutory definitions used for program eligibility and local land‑use definitions that appear on zoning tables: "There are some statutory definitions as it relates to policies, in the environment article... but land use, they're not necessarily universal," he said. Both county and state speakers agreed the work requires extensive stakeholder input and that a shared understanding would help reduce conflicts between state licensure and local zoning codes.
