Aaron, a district staff member leading the project, told the board the work is urgent because "it hasn't been done in almost 15 years," and described the purchase as a network foundation upgrade that includes five years of maintenance and software updates. "The total for the request would be for $42,228.85," he said.
Board members said the upgrade will reduce the risk of single points of failure at the plant and align district equipment with the city's technology for easier maintenance. The motion to approve the funding passed by voice vote; staff indicated the SCADA implementation is planned to begin in late August and will not delay the larger SCADA project timeline.
