Tumwater seeks $100,000 grant to produce brewery‑district redevelopment roadmap

Tumwater staff told the council the city will apply for a $100,000 planning grant from the Community Economic Revitalization Board to create a redevelopment roadmap focused on the brewery warehouse area and adjacent parcels.
Assistant city administrator Kelly Adams (S30) said the application limits scope intentionally to improve the chance of award and will use existing brownfield redevelopment funds for the 20% match. The requested work includes an environmental readiness assessment, a two‑page site‑readiness checklist, permitting-pathway analysis, and feasibility steps intended to reduce developer uncertainty and encourage private-sector investment. "This is to create local private sector jobs," Adams said.
Council adopted resolution R2026‑011 authorizing the mayor to submit the application and sign required documents. Staff said the grant requires five years of post‑award tracking and that the resulting roadmap could be used as a template for other geographic areas in the city.
