The Brentwood Police Department reported an overall decrease in crime but flagged specific trends that residents should know. The chief said officers recorded one stolen car in June that was recovered after a Flock camera alert and cautioned that criminals are now cloning vehicle key fobs to steal certain brands: "They cloned the key and took the car," the chief said, urging residents to be vigilant about vehicle security.
The department also described an investigation into a suspected long‑running fraud targeting Home Depot, where detectives have identified a married couple suspected of defrauding stores of roughly $600,000 or more; Homeland Security is involved and warrants are being pursued. The chief said detectives are coordinating with other jurisdictions and that the case is expected to expand to other cities' warrants. Committee members discussed technology and interagency data‑sharing as essential investigative tools.
