Council approves multiple assessment-district levies for FY 2026–27 after public hearings

The Gonzales City Council conducted the required public hearings and adopted a package of resolutions confirming engineers' reports and levying assessments for multiple benefit, landscape and parks assessment districts for fiscal year 2026–27.
Staff explained that the engineer's reports were filed and preliminarily approved in June and that the resolutions would authorize the county to collect assessments on the property tax roll. The proposed adjustments included modest CPI-based increases in several districts: for example, Canyon Creek parks and open-space increases averaged about $6 per parcel; Cipriani Estates showed increases of roughly $39.96 for some lots and $25.74 for others; Industrial Park district increases were in the low-$20s to $57 depending on type of assessment. Staff said the funds would be used for routine maintenance, operation, and capital-reserve contributions identified in the engineers' reports.
No members of the public spoke during the hearings. Council moved and adopted the set of resolutions in groupings (Industrial Park, California Breeze, Canyon Creek, Cipriani Estates) as recommended by staff. The resolutions will be forwarded to the county for inclusion on the property tax roll.
