District staff reported a crossing guard noticed a sewage odor in January; an investigation found a break in a sanitary line that flooded a town storm drain and an improper roof‑drain connection from the school to the town system.
Administration said it worked with attorneys and the town to obtain an extension to complete capital work during the summer construction cycle and that repairs can be combined with restroom renovations already included in the 2026–27 budget. The district estimated the unanticipated work at "around 1,200,000," said it would come from fund balance, and described a plan to submit architectural plans to the state so construction can proceed next summer.
