Resident tells council MST bus stops in Gonzales lack ADA access; asks staff to audit stops and report

During the public comment period, resident Andrew Castillo urged the council to inspect Monterey–Salinas Transit stops in Gonzales for ADA access and report back with repair needs and grant options.
"I went to the stop at 5th On West. There was no concrete slab. If you have a wheelchair, you can't get on the bus," Castillo said, and asked that "city staff check all MST stops in Gonzales and report back next month on what needs fixing and what grants can pay for it." He said inaccessible stops block seniors and disabled residents from reaching work, school and medical care.
Staff later told the council that MST has hired a consultant to survey stops for ADA compliance and that the city will monitor that work. The council did not take formal action at the meeting but requested staff follow up and report when the survey results are available.
