The Pearson Town Council adopted Resolution 2026‑01 on April 7, 2026, approving the town’s updated personnel rules and regulations manual after staff removed a code provision that had required adoption by ordinance. Deputy Clerk Ryan Smith explained council had reviewed the handbook at a prior workshop and that the update removes antiquated language and clarifies vacation and sick‑leave provisions.
Ryan Smith told council, "We struck a lot of antiquated language. We've added some sections in there, clarified how things like vacation and sick time work." Councilmember Lenny Richardson moved to adopt the resolution and the motion passed on a unanimous roll‑call vote. Staff said the change to allow adoption by resolution followed an earlier amendment to the town code to remove the ordinance requirement and avoid the extra public‑hearing steps.
