Chief Everidge told the council the state of Georgia changed the photo-enforcement law for school zones and that the municipality will need to take on the primary license-holder responsibilities previously held by the Board of Education.
"The biggest change for us will be that Board of Education had been the license holder, and they under the new law, it would belong to the municipality or government to have the primary enforcement opportunity or duties," Chief Everidge said. He recommended the city request the transfer and continue current speed-zone cameras except at Perry Middle School.
The item was presented for council information during pre-council; staff will bring any necessary implementing documentation to the regular meeting.
