Rosie Stramberg, project manager with the Chautauqua Region Economic Development Corporation, described the proposed request and program rules.
Stramberg said the region is asking Chautauqua County to apply for an OCR grant not to exceed $100,000 that would be used to provide a term and deferred loan to Sunnyside Ventures LLC to renovate a vacant building at 31 Southeast Erie Street in Mayville for use as a boutique hotel and spa. She stated the total project cost is expected to be approximately $495,000 and that the project is expected to create an estimated six full-time-equivalent jobs, a majority of which are expected to benefit low- and moderate-income individuals. She explained CDBG funding priorities, including the requirement that at least 51% of activity beneficiaries be low- and moderate-income persons.
No members of the public offered comment during this hearing, and the chair closed the hearing after Stramberg's presentation and a brief invitation for testimony. County staff noted that, if awarded, a second public hearing will be required during implementation as part of CDBG rules.
