Commission approves temporary valet parking for Buccaneer Marina, conditions approval on P&Z site-plan modification

The Town Commission approved a temporary alternate valet off-street parking arrangement for the Buccaneer Marina on the condition the owner obtains a Site Plan Modification from Planning & Zoning.
Mayor Alan Fiers explained the marina needs an additional 20 parking spaces to open; Commissioners and residents raised questions about whether landscaping in the strip between the sidewalk and parking had been required historically and whether the lot was grandfathered. Commissioner Roby DeReuil urged staff to confirm landscaping and site-plan obligations. Resident Dodi Glass reiterated that, after approvals are issued, the town must ensure conditions are enforced. Rick Kollmeyer and Mark Ward pressed for clarity on whether the parking was temporary and on lease length. The Commission’s consensus was for the Buccaneer to go back to P&Z for a site-plan modification.
Commissioner Kathleen McGahran moved to approve the valet with the site change and require P&Z Site Plan Modification approval; Commissioner DeReuil seconded and the motion passed 5-0. Josh Miron of Sharfi Holdings told the Commission he would address landscaping concerns and said they had "no intention for Charter Boat docking," and that the off-site valet was temporary — "realistically, it would be for a year from now."
