Union City Borough held a public hearing Sept. 16, 2024, at First Global Methodist Church to provide information and receive public comment on a proposed amendment to Zoning Ordinance No. 1118. Councilor Cross called the hearing to order at 6:05 p.m.
The amendment described in the minutes would add definitions and regulation for permitted-use zones for “redemption games,” also called games of skill, and would add Section 701.04 to provide for the use of accessory structures on adjoining lots; the package also includes a repealer, a severability clause and an effective date. The minutes record the ordinance only by number and summary; full text and mapped zoning changes were not included in the minutes and are not specified in this record.
The borough's vision statement was included in the record: “The Union City area is a thriving rural community of families, businesses and organizations dedicated to encouraging growth while maintaining small town values.” No members of the public attended to offer comment during the hearing, and therefore no testimony for or against the proposed amendment was entered into the minutes.
Councilor Steadman moved to adjourn the hearing; Councilor Osborn seconded. The minutes state the hearing adjourned at 6:09 p.m. There is no roll-call vote or tally recorded in the minutes regarding the proposed ordinance; no final action on Ordinance No. 1118 is recorded in these minutes.
