Union City Council approves CDBG application for Municipal Lot #1 stormwater repairs after sinkhole report

Council discussed obtaining quotes from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving for paving the affected area; business owners and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department will be notified before smoke testing begins.
The motion to approve submitting a county CDBG application for up to $100,000 was made by Councilor Steadman and seconded by Councilor Osborn and carried unanimously. The funding request is limited to "a portion of the repairs to the storm water system in Municipal Lot #1," per the motion; Council did not specify exact project components beyond the pipe, catch basin and testing described by staff.
