Interim town manager Kathleen told the council she had received a June 5 request from Jupiter and reminded members the contribution was included in last year’s budget but the check had not been issued. A council member said, “I’m opposed to giving a donation for something that doesn’t directly benefit the people of the town,” and suggested any tickets received be raffled to residents instead of going to council and staff.
Staff explained the town’s historical practice: donations were approved as part of the budget and checks sometimes were issued up to 11 months later, often with ceremonial presentations. Mayor Santilli said the council would revisit donation timing and the broader donations list during the July budget workshop. The council signaled consensus to honor the allocation that had been approved by the prior council.
