Parks director outlines $20–$24 million aquatic center concept, site costs excluded

Parks Director Seth told the council a revised aquatic center concept includes circulation changes, a relocated play tower, expanded zero-entry areas, and added seating and landscaping. "This plan... is about a 20 to $24,000,000 plan," he said, and clarified that figure covers the core facility and does not include site-specific infrastructure such as roads, water, sanitary, parking or other utility work.
Seth said the steering committee reviewed five options and eliminated two (options A and E) as not viable; it asked staff to further evaluate options B, C and D. Staff will return in August with site infrastructure costs, present a financial analysis in September covering funding strategies and operating costs, and aim for a formal direction or recommendation in October. The council asked whether competitive swim lanes were included; Seth said that was deprioritized in favor of other community needs because other local facilities (the YMCA and school district pools) provide lap capacity.
No decision was requested at the meeting; the update was informational and set a timeline for follow-up analyses and cost details to inform a future council direction.
