Anthony Malloy explained that Nevada law requires redevelopment agencies to dedicate 18% of the tax increment generated from redevelopment areas to public education and that a joint planning group of city and Clark County School District representatives met on 06/29/2026 to recommend distribution of an estimated $8,200,000.
Staff outlined recommended investments including establishing a long-term maintenance and repair fund for an early childhood education center currently under construction in the East Side redevelopment area, providing scholarship and operational support for the new center and the Valley View preschool program, supporting public schools located within the downtown and East Side redevelopment areas, and expanding out-of-school-time programming serving students in those communities.
