The City of Henderson Redevelopment Agency unanimously approved a FY2027 grant agreement to support community events in the Water Street District and Cornerstone redevelopment areas.
Anthony Malloy, director of redevelopment, economic development and tourism, told the agency that Parks and Recreation hosts a variety of events that "attract tens of thousands of residents and visitors" and that such events increase activity in commercial districts and provide exposure for local businesses.
Malloy said this grant is funded by redevelopment tax increment and that the outcomes directly support redevelopment goals by activating commercial areas and encouraging private investment. After a brief exchange with board members, the clerk reported the motion to approve the agreement "made by member cBio" carried with all members voting in favor.
Staff recommended approval and said the funding will be used across downtown redevelopment zones to underwrite events intended to boost foot traffic and economic activity.
