Julianne Njoku told attendees that DeKalb County is undertaking ordinance updates that will shape land use for years to come. "DeKalb County is updating its zoning ordinances for the 1st time in a decade and the sign ordinance for the 1st time in 20 years," she said, calling the update "critical" and urging community involvement.
Njoku also highlighted the 2055 Unified Plan update as a long-range blueprint for transportation, housing, economic development and community services in unincorporated DeKalb. She invited residents to engage in corridor studies, small-area plans and other public processes tied to the comprehensive-plan update and stressed that the comprehensive plan is a guidance document that informs regulations rather than a regulatory instrument itself.
