Council approved Resolution 26-8-24 authorizing a grant agreement with the Washington State Department of Commerce worth $970,000 to support a stormwater mitigation project aimed at reducing runoff into Medical Lake.
Sam (city administrator) told council the funds would support engineering, environmental review and construction of stormwater treatment improvements to improve water quality and protect the lake, enabling staff to begin project implementation and be reimbursed for eligible costs. The motion to approve was moved and seconded and carried without recorded opposition.
Council members expressed appreciation for work that produced the award after multi-year efforts. Staff said additional project details and implementation timelines will come back to council as design and procurement proceed.
