Dayton FFA reports $350,000 in fair sales and expanded student participation

Mitch Coleman updated the Dayton School District No. 8 board on the FFA program’s activity this summer, reporting broad student participation and strong sales at the county fair.
Coleman said approximately 120 Dayton students participated in the Yamhill County Fair and generated nearly $350,000 in total sales. He added that Dayton sent roughly 20 students to the Oregon State Fair where participants exhibited goats, sheep, nursery plants and crops and earned recognition. Coleman highlighted efforts to improve inclusion, noting outreach to Spanish-speaking families and naming bilingual student contributor Kevin Ortiz; he said about 40 Spanish-speaking families participated in fair activities over the summer.
