Interim operations director reports multi-year account corrections, promises updated audit numbers

Interim Director of Operations Sean Burke reported the district has identified accounting issues that reach back several fiscal years and said staff are making corrections. Burke told the board that Jan Burm reviewed accounts back to July 1, 2024 and that adjustments may extend as far back as FY 2021–22; he said the district has updated numbers as of Aug. 5, 2025 and will transfer funds as necessary to balance accounts.
Burke described internal-controls and cross-training work completed over the summer, including budget and finance training, HR/fiscal training, PowerSchool bootcamp, and ASB Works training for building-level staff. Director Christopher Wytoski asked for updated numbers to be shared with the board when the process is complete.
