Detroit council OKs plan to move forward on old City Hall renovation with $90,000 CPI grant

The Detroit City Council on Sept. 10 consented to move forward with a basic renovation plan for the city's old City Hall using a $90,000 Community Prosperity Initiative (CPI) grant, Councilor Denny Nielsen said.
Nielsen told the council the grant funding must be spent by the end of 2025 and described early concepts developed with consultant/contractor Matt Del Moro of HBH, including paving a parking area, adding a pavilion and reserving space for a future restroom. He said there has been an indication from the Oregon Department of Transportation that an easement could provide access that would allow property owners to explore septic options for the downtown business district. The council gave consent to proceed with HBH on the basic plan.
