Town to consider hosting MEOC Title V participant for local placements

Stephen Lawson told Council the Town had been asked to serve as a Host Agency for the Mountain Empire Older Citizens (MEOC) Title V Program.
"Title V Program this was a request to approve the Town of Big Stone Gap to be a Host Agency for MEOC's Title 5 Program," Lawson said, explaining the arrangement would make a participant available to the town for approximately 20 hours per week for training and departmental support.
Lawson said the participant could be assigned to work in any town department and would provide both a training opportunity and temporary capacity for staff. Council recorded the informational request on the agenda; no final vote on accepting a participant was recorded in the workshop minutes.
If Council proceeds, staff would coordinate placement and supervision consistent with MEOC program rules.
