Town Manager Stephen Lawson told the council the Town received a $25,000 grant from Friends of Southwest Virginia to pay for a mural at Bullitt Park on the building owned by Sarah Bott. A committee published a notice for artists, received three submissions, and scored them; the committee ranked an artist identified as Maye highest and staff are negotiating requested edits to Maye’s design.
Lawson handed out renderings and the committee process described in the workshop notes: advertisement of the opportunity, submission of qualifications and examples, and committee scoring. No contract signatures were reported at the workshop; Council was informed of the grant and the committee's selection process.
