Councilor Michele Tesdal told the council she and a colleague submitted a grant application to the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department requesting just over $800,000 for a park project estimated at just over $1 million. Tesdal said the city's required local match would be approximately 20 percent of the total project cost.
Tesdal also noted donations have been received to support the park work. The council did not take a formal funding vote at the meeting; the grant application was described as submitted and the city would review next steps if and when funding is awarded.
