Planning Commission recommends appointment of local business owner to vacant seat

The Planning Commission voted unanimously Nov. 20 to recommend that the City Council appoint John Jones to the vacant Planning Commission seat. Jones, identified in the minutes as owner of Oregon's Indoor Shooting Range, was the sole applicant and did not attend the meeting.
Commissioners said they had prior interactions with Jones during a Conditional Use application for his business; Commissioner Rick Olmsted moved the recommendation and Commissioner Cammi Hungate seconded. The motion passed 5-0-0 and the recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for its Dec. 9, 2025 meeting.
