The Elgin School Board approved a consolidated consent agenda that included several personnel actions. The board voted to hire Shania Brauch as a secondary paraprofessional, approved the hire of Katie Cracraft as an elementary paraprofessional (Superintendent/Principal Tom Sorensen corrected the spelling on the record), and moved to hire Tom Rice as assistant boys' basketball coach. Later agenda items also recorded a hire for Joelle Johnson as junior-high girls' basketball coach and accepted some athletic resignations.
Board member Khirenda Johnson moved the consolidated consent motion; a second was recorded from Ellie Fincher. The motion passed AYES: 6, NOES: 0, ABSTAIN: 0. The personnel approvals were recorded as routine consent items; individual job descriptions and hours (for example, paraprofessionals at 6.75 hours/day) were included in the staff recommendations attached to the agenda.
The hires are effective for the 2024–25 school year as listed in the personnel recommendations. The district will post additional human-resources paperwork and start dates through the superintendent’s office and communicate directly with the newly hired staff.
