Elgin SD to advertise two district properties for sale to reduce costs, fund fieldhouse work

Superintendent Karla Head explained the district's plan: "When we are successful in selling these two properties, we will be able to not only reduce our obligation in insurance cost on a monthly basis but we will also be able to apply half of the proceeds towards current District financial obligations and then use half of the proceeds to then apply for matching funds grants to assist in finishing the fieldhouse." Board members approved the motion; the public minutes record the motion as approved but do not show a roll-call tally.
Board discussion emphasized using sale proceeds strategically to limit operating-cost pressure while advancing a priority capital project. The district will publish the sale notices and proceed according to public-procurement and real-property rules for public entities.
