"We want it to happen, but it's gotta go through some process now," the Superintendent said, describing negotiations and property-line work needed to secure a small sliver of land adjacent to the proposed field. Architects (referred to as Architects West in materials) are finalizing in-ground conduit, piping and earthwork plans, which the superintendent said should be the immediate priority.
Trustees discussed program elements including a rubberized track over asphalt, bleachers sized for roughly 900'1,000 spectators, press-box needs and whether to use turf (noting replacement and maintenance costs for turf can be substantial). The superintendent cited an architect-level facilities estimate of about $3,600,000 and warned that the larger expansion could compete with other capital projects and that an elementary expansion is likely a decade-plus away.
Board members asked the administration to prioritize earthwork and in-ground utilities so future phases (lights, press box, turf) can be added without re-excavation. No formal action to authorize construction contracts was taken; trustees asked staff to continue site negotiations and planning.
