The board held a first reading of the new cybersecurity policy (EHB) and administrative regulation (EHB-AR), which the superintendent said are legislatively required and were reviewed during a recent tabletop exercise with the ESD. "If somebody were to hack our data and hold our data for ransom, what would our process be to handle that?" the superintendent said when explaining the policy's purpose.
The policy and AR define responsibilities, required preventive steps, and incident-response sequences; the board took no final action at first reading and the item will return for review and a second reading prior to adoption.
