Council reappoints two board members, tables new Planning Commission appointment

On Feb. 10 the Big Stone Gap Town Council approved two reappointments and postponed consideration of a third. Council voted to reappoint Greg Kress to a four‑year term on the Big Stone Gap Housing Authority expiring Feb. 28, 2030 (Resolution 08‑2026) and to reappoint Brian Jones to a four‑year term on the Big Stone Gap Planning Commission expiring Feb. 28, 2030 (Resolution 09‑2026). Both motions passed with unanimous recorded support from the five council members present.
Council discussed three candidates for the unexpired planning commission seat vacated by Adam Harris (term to Oct. 31, 2029) and, on a motion by Councilman Adam Harris seconded by Councilman W. Turk Hollinger, tabled Resolution 10‑2026 to allow further consideration. The minutes record no votes against the tabled motion; Mayor Gary Johnson and Councilwoman Crystal Lyke were absent from the meeting.
