Olivette planning commission roundup: approvals, code updates and next steps

At its July 23 meeting the Olivette Planning and Community Design Commission forwarded special-permit recommendations for a pediatric therapy clinic and an AIM Field Hockey facility, requested more research on laundromat zoning in the COR district, and recommended a condominium-plat code correction; several items proceed to City Council on Aug. 25.
The City of Olivette Planning and Community Design Commission met July 23 and handled several land-use items that will advance to City Council for public hearing and further review.
Key outcomes: the commission unanimously forwarded recommendations to City Council for special permits for a pediatric therapy clinic at 9375 Dealman Industrial Drive (SSM Health Cardinal Glennon) and an AIM Field Hockey indoor practice facility at 1220 North Price Road. Both items will be scheduled for City Council public hearings on Aug. 25. The commission also recommended a text amendment to remove code language that limited condominium plats to multifamily buildings to align the code with state statute; that amendment also moves to City Council. On a separate zoning question, a petitioner requested the city consider allowing coin-operated self-service laundromats in the COR district; commissioners asked staff to research hours, staffing and conditions used by neighboring jurisdictions before taking action.
Staff noted upcoming meeting dates (Aug. 6 and Aug. 20) and that inspector follow-up and permit circulation will occur as petitioners prepare for council hearings. Council liaison Kate Pishon Hellman said the council will consider flock license-plate cameras and the Indian Meadows pavilion at an Aug. 4 work session and urged commissioners to review posted NID materials on the city website.
