DeKalb County official details $5 million ARP program for home plumbing repairs

DeKalb County Community Development presented CAP CARES, a $5 million appropriation of American Rescue Plan funds that will fund in-home water and plumbing repairs for eligible residents. The presenter said the program dispatches contractors to homes to fix leaks, plumbing fixtures, and septic-to-sewer conversions and has helped “over 350” county residents to date.
The presenter explained the program is not an emergency on-call service: "It's not an emergency program," the Agency official said, adding that requests go through inspection, cost estimation, and scheduling before work begins. Residents can apply via an application available on the DeKalb County Community Development website or by calling the contact number provided (371-2727). The presenter said eligibility is generally limited to households at or below about 60% area median income.
