The Elgin School District Board of Directors voted on several personnel and calendar items at its Sept. 16 meeting in the Stella Mayfield Elementary Library. The board accepted the resignation of Katie Brown and approved the hiring of Megan O’Leary as a second-grade teacher.
Board members also approved revisions to the 2024–25 school calendar, removing professional development days on Oct. 18 and Feb. 7 and retaining the statewide in-service day on Oct. 11 while adding an additional in-lieu PD day on Oct. 25. Ellie Fincher moved to approve the action items; Khirenda Johnson seconded and the motion carried, according to the minutes.
During routine business the board set its next meeting for Oct. 21, 2024, and approved the Aug. 19 minutes. Board Chair Kit Evans moved to adjourn at 7:15 p.m.; Ellie Fincher seconded and the motion carried.
